Solid Mud Forum, Volume 3: Issue 1

I got a letter from Chrisser today. He's up in Logan working with the Utah Conservation Corps. He sent a great letter, made me laugh big laughs. It's good to hear from him. He sent a sticker with a four-wheeler on the cover. It says, "Tread lightly on public lands." Chrisser translated it for me on the back. He wrote: "In other words, set your four-wheeler on fire and get out your hiking boots!" Just thought you'd like that, ST!

Oh, gotta piss off the homies, that's what homies do.

Well, I started work today on SMF 3-1. No, Eddie, not a list of brevity words that Mungo has made up, but the newest evolution of the Solid Mud Forum. It. Is. Upon. Us. Who's excited? I'm's. ("I'm's" translation: I AM IS.) Hokeday! Do I have Mike's mailing addresses? I think so. Eddie, can you send yours by e-mail? I think I accidentally left your address in the garbage.

Oh, gotta piss off the homies, that's what homies do.

Seriously though. Eddie, how are you doing with all the changes, decisions, and open ended possibilities?
ST, are you in Minnesota yet? If you are, I'm not going to be able to make it up to see you. Broke as a joke.

Peace and Love,
Mungo

Shift Key

i will not be using the shift key. this keyboard is terrible, the shift key, the k key and the backspace keys are the worst. i am back in osage, ia, at the public library. i just woke up. it's so nice to get a full 8-9 hours of sleep everynight. wonderful.

mungo sure is having fun. however, i can't seem to sit still for a whole day. crazy feeling. i'm going to mason city, ia with my mother in an hour or so.

these keys are so hard to type with that my right hand hurts. i ate figs with meghan last night. that was a first. fresh figs, they were special ones too, i guess. she said they weren't the kind you normally find in stores.

i'm wearing burt's bees bay rum cologne. i love it. it's mungo's ptetchuli.

peace and love,
mungo

song of the day: the shins - "new slang (when you notice the stripes)"

--this is the song natalie portman plays for the guy in "garden state." i saw that with meghan last night. i liked the movie, i know almost all the music in it, but the main actor can't act very well, he does a funny with with his face when he tries to be serious, ends up making himself look like ray ramono... the rest of the movie is 100% marvelous. i recomend.

Housing for the masses.

We have decided to look into refinancing our house. We will pay off everything then put some money into the house as far as upgrades. Things like a covered patio, granite counter tops, some built in book shelves, new shutters for the windows and other various little things.

This basically means that we shall be staying in Vegas for awhile. When I get out I will probably get a contractor job where I work. We will continue to paint the walls of our abode more pleasing colors than the shitty white that it is now.

Okay.

Bye bye.

Bango Mango Mungo

Mungo, you seem to be having a good time. Good times are good. At least they are much better than bad times.

I am glad to see that you have learned to read. I thought that you would never pick that up. It takes work but with some practice you might actually be able to make out some words in these books that you pretend to read. Good for you.

ST thinks Mungo is having fun...Good.

Booklist

These are the books I have read since I have left Florida:

The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, by Douglas Adams
The Smoke Jumper, by Nicholas Evans
Dogwalker, by Arthur Bradford
The Restraunt at the End of the Universe, by Douglas Adams

I'll keep updating this as we go along.

Ames, IA

Meghan and I are having a good time together. I'm staying with her in the house she's staying in. Her friend, Warren, invited her to live in one of the extra rooms. She's accepted but she can't wait to leave. I hope she decides to come up to AlAskA and live with me once I have found a place of my own. That would make me happy. Yesterday we ate diner at the park. She had sushii, salad, a red plum and a bottle of water. I had a turkey wrap, a red plum, not good cheesecake, and a bottle of water. Then we went on the shortest nature hike in history. After that we bummed around the house she's living in and chit chatted. Then we went to the movie store and rented "Intoleralble Cruelty" and "The Man Who Cried." We watched the first one, very funny. It's a Coen Bros film. We watched it at Ronda's house. Ronda is Meghan's friend from Subway. She's very attractive, and she was born 13 hours after I was. Unfortunately she is spoken for. Engaged, anyway. And she has two children. Back in the day she used to do a lot of meth and coke. She was pregnant with her first child for months before she realized it. Her daughter, now 5, was born without complete arms. Her right arm, the most developed, has a 4 inch stub with an elbow and a two-finger claw. Her left arm as a fingernail growing on the smooth skin where the should should be. But, she makes good use of her toes and she has a lot of energy. For now, she even has a lot of friends in kindergarten. She must have amazing teachers. Okay. When Meghan and I left Ronda's, we came back to the house and had diner. Meghan made hamburger patties and I put mine on a slice of ezekial bread that she made (Ez. 4:9 ... in the Bible). We also had a bowl of kolhrobie that was seasoned with salt, peper, and white truffle infused olive oil. And brocoli. Steamed. Olark Fasthing tea was used to wash it all down. Meghan and I went into the other room and sat. I sat on an enourmous leather couch and she sat on an antique Fainting Couch in the corner. A map of the world was over her head as we talked about food that is good for people with Type O Blood. Plums are good for us, but Oranges are not. That's a bummer. We talked about food for hours and then she went to bed around 0100 hrs. I went down to the basement and browsed though her roommate's DVD collection....all 3,000 DVDs. I picked out an old vampire movie and watched it on the widescreen. The biggest problem after figuring out how all the remotes worked was keeping the surround sound down to an acceptable level. When the movie was over I continued to read, "Life, the Universe, and Everything" until I heard Meghan getting ready for work at 0700. I went sleep and woke up 26 minutes ago. Today we plan to go grocery shopping and then to see "Garden State" at the ISU campus. Probably get some coffee and tea at the cafe she likes after the movie, and after all that we'll walk back here. I'll drive home then and leave Meghan to her school work. See ya, freaks.

Peace and Love,
Mungo

Changeseddie

Eddie - Good boy. Now. You speak of these changes as if they're no good for you. I never understood any of your relationships, but your decision to stay in Korea ... AWD ... reenlistment - What's so "though" about that? I have to go now, having diner with my sister, Meghan. I'm in Ames.

Eddie, I'm happy for you, I am. Decisions are hard to make. They're hard to make because we've never made the same decision twice. Ever. So every decision we make is made for the first, and only time. One might argue that learning then would be made impossible.

Anywhoopla, I'll write more tonight if I can.

Peace and Love,
Mungo

The update

OK so here it is...

I am no longer with Elena. I ended this on Thursday. It was a hard thing to do, but it needed to be done. It is better for me in the long-run.

I have also decided to extend one year here in the Big K. The addition to this is that I will more than likely be going to Advanced WD School. Which means that I am pretty sure I will re-enlist. If for some reason I do not get selected for the school or if I fail the school, I will not re-up.

Major changes in my life right now. I believe they are all for the better in the long term area though.

Eddie

ready to reach out

I have the new internet phone thingy hooked up. It works just like our regular phone service. The only downside (and they don't tell you this until you are connected) is that even for local calls I have to dial the area code. That will take some getting used to.

The plus side is that I can basically go anywhere in the world with my little box and plug it in to highspeed internet. I will then have my home number with me. Neat stuff.

Speaking of neat stuff...I can also set it up to ring different numbers. For instance...I can set it up to have my home line ring but also have my cell phone AND Beck's cell phone ring at the exact same time. Whichever phone is answered will be the one that takes the call. I can also have them ring in order if no one answers at home. It can call my cell, then Beck's, etc, until someone answers one of the numbers. When we go to MN we can just have it ring to BOTH of our cells. Coolio dude.

Okay, okay. I know I am rambling on and on. Hey, you know me...if it is some new techie thing then I like it!

ST off to call myself a bunch of times.

Reach out and bitch slap someone...

You will be getting the email about us changing phone companies. We are going from Sprint to AT&T. Sprint can kiss my ass. We are getting rid of our hardwire phone line and are going to be using the internet.

The phones will work just like normal but it will go through our cable modem then to your phone. Highspeed internet is required for this service but the phone bill will be tons cheaper. We will get tons of features plus unlimited long distance (US and Canada). The features that we will have available aren't even possible with a regular phone. Not too mention it will be about 10 less a month than we are paying now without long distance!

Yes, yes, I am excited and will update you on how it works. The adapter to connect the phones to the cable modem is in the mail. Our new number will be up as soon as I hook it up. I emailed you the new #.

Reach out and bitch slap you later!

1 wheel multiplied by 4

Eddie told Beck some news that I am not supposed to hear except from him. What a tease. Beck is enjoying watching me squirm. You both suck.

Mungo, you are teetering on that edge again. Just back away and all will be good...maybe. Osage has a poisoned soul, you must run away. Alaska is a good place to run to. Have you ever thought of that? If you decide to run there then I want all the credit for the idea.

I worked all night last night...okay, so I slept most of the time and just jumped up to answer about 4-5 phone calls. Not too bad. I got home at about 0800 and was out the door again to have some fun. I jumped on my yellow hog, fired her up and took off. Free spirit, no worries and plenty of trails. I was gone for over three hours and covered about 90 miles. Yeah baby. 1 wheel x 4 = damn good time.

Later my peeps.

8-Ply

My friends. Since I last wrote, ST has had a one man party (I think we all know what that means) and Eddie has found his WAN again. (Willy and Nuts?) Anyway, there seems to be a lot of self gratification around, so I feel like I ought to share this: I have struck out with exactly 2 girls since arriving in Osage.

One girl, Steph, was an old friend from High School. I was joking with my mother that Steph and I should be married. My sister, Meghan (who was better friends with S. than I was), said that marrige would be unadvisable due to the probable outcome of the nasty degree inwhich our children would be mentally malformed. She's right, truely, for Stephanie is a female version of MUNGO. If Steph and I had kids, they'd turn out to be whacked out, cracked out, high strung, long hung, rumplestiltskins. And they'd be absolutely beautiful. So I can't date Steph. Besides, she has a boyfriend. Lee. Okay, then the other girl, Nikki. Don't know much about her. Sweet tushka, though. Holy crap. Possibley top 5 poop shoots I have ever seen. Made me want to fall out of my booth when she walked away to refill the coffee pot. She also had a sweet smile and a sweet way about her. Annoying voice though. I might have cut out her tounge or something. And I'd probably regret doing that...so I let her be.

My brother is a discusting mess. I don't like him very much.

My sister, Meghan, is down in Ames (Iowa State) and I will be visiting her this upcoming weekend.

My sister, Caitlin, will be starting school soon. She's still my little darling, but I'm begining to see that she's not quite as inoccent as I had hoped. She's 18 and has a fairly serious boyfriend, Daniel.

My father has an absessed tooth. It's leaking puss into his jaw. He and I stayed out until 2:30 a.m. last night at Denny's. We drank coffee, read books, and talked about future plans. His and mine.

My mother is sick. She's still in bed and it's 3:52 p.m. I'm supposed to be driving up to Milaca Minnesota with her tomorrow to chill with my granny. I might end up driving there alone.

Sara Jean Weber was laid off. That surprises me because she was the head of two departments. She is confident that if she went back and asked to be hired back on that she would be, but at the cost of another employee who would know what was going on. Tough choice. But she's drawing unemployment and doesn't expect this to last too long.

There is a very sexy girl sitting two computers away from me. She doens't look very old. I gotta get out of here. There is something very wrong with my brain.

Okay, nevermind. She left. I asked her, "Hey, do you know if today is the 24th?" She thought about it and said, "It is." It was a very well built sentance and the perfect responce to my question. Her voice was smooth and sweet, and I wanted to hold it close.

I'm wearing an 8-ply friendship bracelet that Sara Jean gave me.

Peace and Love,
Mungo

Let's Party All Night

I am having a party tonight. It will be a rager pary, man! I am talking about off the hook crazy good! Too bad that I am the only one invited.

I have an all nighter tonight and get to sit in the office and watch TV. I will answer my 3-4 phone calls and then come home early in the morning. Yep, a raging good time.

See yall tomorrow. Eddie, I am glad to see that you are alive and not married to some Russian chick.

Fat Sack of Snacks

I just finished a run. I was feeling fat and lazy. "Stop dancing on those chairs, Phil." It is 10:04 p.m. and I have only been awake for about six hours.

Well, Double O has his ticket to Denver squared away. Good. I'm going up to my grandmother's house to be with her during her cadarac surgery. Then I'll be back in Osage. I live a high-speed mid-west life, don't I? Just don't feel like there's much to talk about right now.

My brother...
today he has eaten an entire jar of Taco Bell nacho cheese. Yesterday he ate 5-day old dougnuts and 3 cans of Dr.Pepper for lunch. I tried to get him out running with me. To my surprise, he said yes... this was the 4th time I had asked him. He ran two blocks and quit. When I got home he was mad at me. The little fucker is the only member of my family whose teeth I'd like to smash into the propeller of a speed boat.

Osage, Iowa 50461

It's 66 degrees today, and sunny. I woke up at 12:30 p.m. and had lunch with my dad. I rode my bike here to the library and got caught up on the blogger and my e-mail. I haven't watched the news or read a newspaper in 14 days. I sleep when ever I want to and I have done a ton of reading and writing. I've been on serval bike rides on the Cedar River valley and I went 4-wheelin' in Minnesota. I would be happy if life would carry on like this forever. But it won't. Only a few more weeks. HA! This is great.

Boys. Kevin Swiadek just wrote to me. Apparently he went to Cathy HarcrowBrownMilton's house the other night. She lives 2 blocks from where I lived for 2.5 years. I never ONCE saw her.

Peace and Love,
Mungo

can't wait for the PTO!!!

I have no idea what the "PTO" is, and I don't know why anyone couldn't wait for it. I'm at the public library and it appears that a lot of people use the blogger. When I clicked in the Title Bar and typed the letter 'c,' an old title from some one else's blog appeared. Weird.

the C that I meant to type was for "Clear Lake Denny's and the Midnight Coffee Extravaganza: Two Nights Only." Clear Lake is a city about 40 miles West of Osage and they have the nearest 24 hr joint.... Denny's. I live for the 24 hr diners.

I rolled up to an all night diner
the sign said triple x but they were talkin' 'bout root beer
a man walks up, puts his arm around me
starts to share his information
i just sit there thinkin' 'bout nothin
lookin' at the thin air
breathing up the oxygen

Where was I? I get songs stuck in my head. I just wish I knew the words. Those were all jacked up. Anyway... where was I? YES! The Diner.

I've been home for two weeks or so now. Yeah. I have left town EVERY SINGLE DAY. I can't handle this much Osage any more. I have gotten used to bigger cities. (Mike, Eddie, you two will laugh at me, but Anchorage and Panama City are still big cities to me.) This small town atmosphere is great, but I start to drown.

There are two teen aged boys behind me. I'm eavesdropping. This is a summary of their conversation.
"When does your dad run again?"
"For sheriff?"
"Ya."
"Oh, well, he hasn't had anybody run against him, so..."
"He doesn't campaign?"
"He hasn't campaigned since he was first elected."
"Well, there haven't been any murders, so that's good for business."
"There haven't been any murders in Osage in 100 years."
"That's what they SAY, anyway."
"Yes. That's what THEY say."

Interesting, life here in Townsville. I'd blog more often, but it's very hard waking up before the library closes. I'm sure you all understand.

Peace and Love,
Mungo

You Alive?

Eddie...you alive? Hope everything is okay since you are never on here anymore. Maybe you just suck.

It's hot and I have to go spray for bugs today. It's just that time again.

I am starting to look around at the job market for people with clearances to see what is out there since I only have a year and a half. Isn't it sad when I am already getting excited about only having a year and a half left? Oh well.

Our niece, Aimee, was riding a quad at a church camp and ended up with a broken clavicle and a big knot on her head. Her face is all swollen up as well. She is lucky that it wasn't worse! No, she wasn't wearing a helmet and she was riding with two other people on it! She realizes how dumb it was. The other two girls got some pretty good cuts and road rash. Gotta be careful.

Okay, talking time is done.

I am not in the Motherland yet. That is not scheduled until the end of September.

Sorry no recent bloggins. I have not been on my computer very often. Shame on me, neglecting my Gateway.

I have to go into work today. 1130-1730. I hate doing this shift, but it is the best one out of the 4 that I can be doing.

I took 3 days of leave this week. Oldshit was on leave too. We hung out a lot, but then back to the gridiron for me.

It is fucking freezing in my room. I am in jeans and a sweatshirt and am still cold. no real way to adjust the temp either. There are 2 settings. Hell or tundra. Granted, tundra is much better than hell, but SHIT MAN, it is fucking COLD!!!

Hope Mungo is doing good on his ventures around the world and no falling off of cliffs at a random interval.

Homeless X-BOXes...

Mungo, I hope your drive is safe. I have done a few of those no seeing action dealios.

ST, I take it you are enjoying the X-Box. I never figured you were really into those types of things. But hey, cool wit me doe Dawg. I can waste many of mindless hours doing shit that is rotting my brain. We will now rot our brains together, like when Diablo II action was going.

I am now up for the black hat of the squadron. I am becoming an evaluator. This is a scarey thought though I am the most qualified that is not already an evaluator. I honestly think that I am more qualified than some of the current evaluators. But that is just me and my ego.

Finalisms to Osage, Iowa

Tomorrow morning, Tuesday, I have lots of work to do before I shove off. I have to weigh my car, mail stuff to Osage, pick up my laundry, mail it to Osage, and then drive my extremely heavy car to Osage. I'll probably stay in a hotel somewhere. I'm getting paid to travel, I might as well do it right. Besides, sleeping in my car is out of the question. It's so packed, I can't lean the seat back. I can't see out the back window either. Or the rear passenger windows.

I'll check in with the bloggiewoggie when I get to Osage. If I get to Osage.

Relations

I had "relations" on my fishing pier with two girls on Saturday night. Then last night the three of us....in the back room of a store. Then again this morning in my friend's apartment. (He's on leave, I have his keys.) I have been with each individually once also. I feel really weird about the last three days. I said good-bye to them in the store today, (they work together) their district manager was in the office and that made things kindsa weird.

X-Boxio

X Box pretty much kicks ass.

Games so far:

Pac World #? = Pretty lame.
ESPN's 2K5 football = would be fun if I could learn the 15 million moves....too lazy.
ATV2 = freaking rocks balls in the house
Outlaw Volleyball = cool if I could ever tear myself away from ATV2 to learn it.
AMF Bowling = no nonsense bowling game. Seems like it would be boring...nope, it's a good time.
Tiger Wood's Golf 2003 = got it used for $13. Not about to spend $50 on 2004 when I can wait until next month and get 2005 for $50 (on pre-order). The Tiger Wood's golf games are pretty much the shit on a stick!

Yep, I am on my way to being addicted...wife won't let me go overboard though. Neighbor has a X Box with some cool games so we can share. Momma says sharing is good!

ST gotta feed the X hunger.

Whatever you guys want to do with the trip is fine. As it is my supervisor is trying to work my leave since everyone seems to want to take leave the same time that I do. There will only be two out of seven folks in the office so we shall see what happens.

We came home a day early because a sickness was starting to go around and we didn't want to be driving 13 hours with one of us blowing chunks. Got home 0100 Sun morning. Worked out for the best since Beck and Ashlee both got a pretty bad cold.

Double O,
Go to Denver.  It's cheaper and I understand what being strapped for cash is all about.  It doesn't matter so much to me what we do in Vegas.  At the risk of sounding like a Munjacill, I'll be happy just to have three of the four of us together.  I think we all agree on that.

Buy your ticket to Denver, Bubbley Toes.  I'll pick you up, we'll drive onto the VegasValley like cowboys on a little blue, over burdened horse.

To Denver =$162 Leave 23:10 15 sept arrive 06:15 16 sept
And then traveling with Mungo to Vegas via Saturn.

Ugly September

Dear Double O,
It would be very very cool if you could get your ticket for the 14th or 15th of September.  It's earlier than we had planned for, but that's what ST says will work best for him.  I know that you have your own schedule to work out and that your days off work differently than our leave does.  If ST can take leave inbetween weekends, that would give us all 9 days straight for campin's and whatnots.  If we don't make it into Vegas until the 16th, campin will probably be out of the question.

However, Mike wants to take leave in between weekends, and that would be the 13th - 17th OR the 20th - 24th.  I'm not sure what the 15th has to do with the weekends, September 15th is a Wednesday.

No matter how it works out, the most important thing is that we'll all be able to hang out, drink coffees, go for some drives, wait for the cake to come down the chimney, blow out all the candles on our colored eggs, and have people sing Valentine carols to us as we all open our pumpkins.  We'll make the best of the time no matter what.

But dude.  If you don't have your ticket by the 15th of August, ST can't garuntee he'll get his leave.  I'll be callin' yas Wednesday night, still.  Peace out foolio.

Well, I am not taking fucking leave on the 15th or 16th. The way it was originally planned is that you guys would be here from a weekend to a weekend so I wouldn't have to take leave over a weekend if we go camping.

Oh well. I am sure we will figure out something. I am not taking leave over a weekend so that is going to rule out camping since we would have to go from a Fri to a Mon or Tue. Sorry, but I am not using extra leave because of shitty planning.

I have no doubt that we will have fun...just let me know what is going on so I can adjust the leave that is on the books (for the second time).

If this isn't sorted out and final by Aug 15 then I am just going to take my leave off the books.

Eddie:  Yes, everything you read about my airmen and the Sq CC is 100% true.
ST:  You are a busy mofo!
Oldshit:  You are a nonblogging bastard
Double O:  You'll never read this

Okay, so.  Der is the Earth.  Chillin'.  ROUND!  Hokay!  I have completed about 70% of my out processing.  I am under a shitload of stress right now.  I have the messiest apartment in Florida's Panhandle and I have my walk through Monday morning at, like, 0800... My final out is 0930.

I took pictures of last night's electrical storm.  I'm taking my lunch at the camera store.  I'm outie.

Closing the gap,

So.  I'll camp out near Denver on the 15th.  I will find the airport and pick you up the next morning, the 16th.  We will drive together to Las Vegas.  We will have fun.  Then we will drive to Anchorage and maybe make a stop to visit Chris Klatt in Utah along the way.  I'll call you Wednesday night to make sure you've got your ticket and get the time from you.

My last day here is next Monday.
Killa.
