Leroy's Before 7:25 a.m.
I left the house after watching this cartoon:

I drove to Leroy's Family Diner (famous since 1968) on Fireweed. Leroy's is fast becoming the spot, by gosh by gads. The mouthy waitress, Jen, was working again and I ordered the cold beef plate I was eyeballing last time I was there, two days ago. Jen remembered that I wanted the Italian dressing. She's married to a guy who speaks Japanese and makes notes on the daily newspapers she brings to work in the selfsame language. So cool a thing to do.
I ate and finished reading "Visions of Gerard" by Jack Kerouac, finally. A friend of Jen's, Mary, came in and sat in a booth behind me. We took smoke breaks together and I was nervous to talk to Mary. She's exactly my type. Whole foods style lady. Shabby hair, small nose stud, long wool coat; burlap accessories accessorising. Mary.
After finishing off the book, I read two pages from "Doctor Sax" the next in the 14 book series by Jack. I put it down and took out my very own "Highway 9" notebook, One. The only one so far, and began to re-read what I was writing back in Florida. I'm 106 notebook pages into the story so far, and I got about 30 pages read when Mary asked me if I'd like to join her at her table. I did. We got to talking and when she told me she had a boyfriend I relaxed a lot and we got in to talking quite a lot. We talked about books. She's been reading a little bit of Kurt Vonnegut Jr. and has read a few of Kerouac's books. We also talked about hiking. Like the time when she hiked Crow Pass and had to carry her friend, Luke's, water and back-pack for 34 miles because he didn't want to carry anything but his guitar. I didn't really feel sorry for her or her blisters because I would have thrown Luke's bag into the river if that was me. Turns out Mary works at the Bear's Tooth. She makes the pizzas. I told her about the De-nasty nights with Brent Jacobson and oh what fun it is to ride in an empty theater at 3 a.m. Jen gave us free strawberry shakes. Then I was invited by them to go to the Peanut farm for breakfast. Jen's shift was over at 7 a.m. and for some reason I said I couldn't go. So stupid. These lady's are fun. But I'll see them again. Mary told me that I need to come back so she has someone to talk to if Jen's not working or busy. We're good company I think. And I'm glad she's dating someone else. That would make it harder for me. There are too many girls occupying my complexes as it is without another one.
No hitch-hikers on the drive home this morning. Though there is an inch of snow I should shovel out of the driveway and sidewalk. Then I need to do the dishes. Hillary is coming home today. I'd like to have the kitchen looking like it did before she left. That's only the right thing.
What are good call letters for a fictional radio station in AK? I was thinking about K.A.K.A Like: "You're listening to Radio K... AKA--AlAskA radio." Something like that?
