Terrible drive home....

Well, the drive wasn't bad. The wind sucked but other than that the drive itself was fine.

Just before we got in to Vegas we witnessed the aftermath of a very bad wreck. The news would later report that 2 were killed and one airlifted to the trauma center in Vegas.

The first clue that something was not right was the lack of vehicles on the other side of the highway. In the distance I could see a yellow tarp ahead in the median and we had Ashlee look the other way at some power plant. The first piece of wreckage was a battery on our side and over 50 yards from the scene.

THE SCENE: A Ford Expedition had obviously rolled over several times and was a total mess. The force of the roll over must have been imense to throw that battery over 50 yards. The battery wasn't the only thing thrown...Someone in the truck obviously wasn't wearing their seatbelt and was thrown over 20 yards. As we passed, the yellow tarp was flapping in the wind and beneath it, less than 10 yards from us, lay what looked like a woman. Her life ended in the dirt on a highway.

The drive pretty much went to shit right then and there. I have never wanted more than to just be home.

The highway is still closed 4 hours later and the news is saying that is may be closed for another 3 hours. No one is leaving Vegas to the north.
