Memorial Day Weekend (Mungo Version)

What a clever way of telling someone the sex of the baby! I like that. (Didn't know they had pink m&m's. Man, if I tried something like that, the plan would back fire. I'd end up eating some on the way to the meeting with the prospective paternals and snack away too deeply into the prodominate color.)

So, Double O couldn't go hiking today after all. He had to work at his second job. The next common day off he has is Friday so we decided to do the hike then. The two times I talked to him on the phone today were casual and off-the-cuff. It was weird, as if there actually wasn't a 6 month sevring of ties and good feelings.

But what a bummer for MeMungo. I had my heart set on a good ass-kicking climb. I already had my bag together for a day hike so I went out anyway looking for a nice easy trail to occupy the sun shiney afternoon. I thought Bird Creek (the REAL Bird Creek, not the one we were calling Bird Creek [which is actually called Penguin Creek]) would be a nice hike in the sun and in the shade of the brand new leaves (all leaves budded and bloomed completely, begining stages to the final stages LAST WEEK!). BUT! I couldn't keep my plans to the mediocre... I altered course and ended up hiking Bird Ridge. Which is a mountain. 3,505 ft. Now, that's ALL climbing because you start at sea-level. A lot of mountains you may have heard of in Colorado or where ever may sound taller when you say 9,000 feet, but when you start at 5 or 7 thousand feet, you're really not doing a whole lot more than what I did today. Except for maybe encountering more snow and harsher weather. I'm not saying that I'm a stud, I'm just saying that 35-hundred feet along the Turnagain Arm ain't no cake walk. One of my old blisters (from hiking Dark Globe 5 days ago) opened up and started bleeding. Since I was origonally just planning on doing the easy hike, I wore my Merrel hiking SANDALS. The sandles were fine on the way up (except for the brief encounters with the snow) but on the way down... NOT APPROPRIATE FOOTWEAR for downhill or sidehill action! I rolled my ankles countless times upon the 'gradient release' and fell once. The fall only gave me some minor scratches, but it was a big enough shock to my left knee and left ankle that I wanted to just stop. I said outloud, "Get up and move, and get up and move NOW," because I thought if I just stayed there, I would seize up and get stuck. I eventually made it down and I haven't been this tired in a while. Reason? Other than the mountain itself and the 3,200 foot climb 5 short days ago, I have also recently been on a 15 mile bike ride, a 25 mile bike ride, and a 1.5 mile run accompanied with a 3 mile walk. I need to cool it until Friday or there is no way on God's Gray Earth that I will ever ever make it with Double O.

Thank God I quit smoke though. Wooo wee! It would have been a real bitch of a time with a pair of heavy lungs.

Great view from up there. Took a 360 degree panorama series of pictures. I'm going to pin them up in the office and label all of the 25 mountains (or so) visable from the peak.

Peace and Love,
Mungo

Memorial Day Weekend

We left on Thu night and returned home today. Our travels took us to Richfield where we rode ATV's on Friday and Saturday.

Friday was just beautiful as could be. We still had to wear jackets at around 9500 ft but life was good. Saturday was colder with winds at a constant 20-30 mph with gusts hitting 40-50 mph. Needless to say the dust was kicking. When we had a tail wind and I was cruising at 30 mph MY dust was passing me! Crazy. We still had fun though.

Sunday was an all day affair up to Lehi to visit family and listen to Spencer talk in church since he just returned home from his 2 year mission in Korea. The highlight of the day though was counting pink and blue M&M's.

Yes, pink and blue. Beck and I went to dinner with Aimee and Dave (the father) at TGI Fridays. Aimee presented us with a small clear bottle filled with the M&M's topped of with a cork and bow. She refused to tell us the sex and made us count to see if there were more pink or blue candy coated chocolates. So there we are dumping a bottle of M&M's on the table and counting furiously. I counted the blue and Beck got the pink. 100 blue and only 86 pink.

Monday (today) we just cleaned the house and got it ready for the next time we decide to visit.

Damn good weekend.

It's MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND!

(First off, this will be the only sentance with capital letters or any other keyboard charactor requiring the use of the shift key as the shift key here at the Kaladi Brothers is pissing me off and I don't want to use it. deal.0

i didn't know they charged here. i guess i'm supposed to pay. so i'll make this fast.

eddie1 i didn't know you were going to be on tv. what station/ what time/ when/ that's awesome. so you can't tell us much for legal reasons, but can you at least tell us that it had nothing to do with marrying a stranger or eating cow ass/ i'm glad you had fun.

st, i am really really really happy for you and beck. adoption is one of the best things people can do for each other in this world. i am immensly proud of the two of you for taking on such an outstanding adventure. you guys are heros. as for boy names, i kind of like 'horace livingston wachel' or 'leopold wentsworth wachel' or simply, 'the hangman.' but you probably shouldn't ask for my advise.

the real reason i started this blog was to tell you that i may be going hiking with double o this afternoon. i'm kind of surprised that nobody asked me more about my conversation with him last month, but maybe that blog was over looked in the dry spell. today being memorial day is fitting for a try at a reunion. it is the day of our traditional penguin creek hike 9remember st, you were there on the first day, 'it's memorial day weekend, it's memorial day weekend1'0 that's where we're going today... if he doesn't have to work his second job. he'll be calling me at home in two hours.

last week i hiked dark globe with kevin swiadek. i fell on the way down and a large rock left a black black bruise on my right hip. it looks like barry bonds took a bat to my ass... but in reality, alaska took a mountain to my ass.

the weather in ak has been stunning. i've never had a nicer spring than this year and i wish you all could be here for today's hike. that would be nice.

Yo

For legal reasons I can not disclose how I did on the show. But It was a blast and i got fucked up pretty good. Lots of bruises and stuff.

I am sitting in Chicago Ohare right now waiting for my flight that will probably be late since I am flying united and they have about the absolute worst track record.

ST I think Michael Edward would be a great name for a boy.

Anyway, Mungo I have tried to call you back a few times and you never answer your friggin phone.

Later peeps, back to do absolutely nothing here...

Oh wait, get this shit... So apparently there are some people that were supposed to be with me for this trip out here to Iowa. Um yeah... I got the message by checking Vonage when I get to Ohare. I guess they will be waiting for me when I get to Des Moines. You would think that if you had to catch a 2 hour drive with someone, you would probably ask more than the morning of to find out coordination. Stupid fucks. So they can sit there and wait for me in Des Moines for 3 fucking hours and I really don't give a shit. Stupid fucks should have told me earlier and I could have re-arranged a flight. The plane that is sitting in my planes spot is just now being towed because it is fucking broken. I hat UNITED!!!! they fucking suck.

Once again... Later

Growing Family

I am not talking about Mungo's family. Yes, his is growing BUT in this blog I am speaking of MY family growing.

Yes, we are having another baby. No, Beck is not pregnant. We are going to adopt. Beck's niece, Aimee, is pregnant and under the circumstances she doesn't feel she can keep it. Beck and I have been thinking about adopting for over a year now and this just kind of fell into our lap. I think that someone up above is looking out for us.

You are wondering what the circumstance's are for her wanting to let the baby go for adoption? Call me and ask. It's not something that I want to put on here.

Due date...Nov 5. BUT...in Utah almost every doctor likes to induce labor since there are just so many births. So, the delivery will be sometime in late Oct. Halloween would be cool. Yes, there are many arguements about scheduling the birth of a child but that is for another blog. Ashlee was scheduled because of my work location. This will be the same type of deal ONLY if the baby is healthy and ready to join the world.

We will find out the sex in the next couple of weeks or so.
Girl: Cameron Brooke
Boy: ????? Who knows. Any ideas?

Dry Spell

Literally, a dry spell. I live in a desert! It has been 105 here already and that is just wrong. 100's shouldn't be hitting for another month. It's going to be a bad summer.

Our house is still for sale but we haven't had any luck yet. We are looking forward to riding some ATV's this Memorial Day weekend. Thursday night to Monday night. I will blog either from Richfield or soon after I get home. Promise.

Eddie is/was participating in the filming of a reality show. For real. No kidding. He was. I am sure that he will get on here and tell about it. I would have done it too except I have NO time off with my new job. Bummer.

Our little family is doing well....see next blog for more info.

Two Weeks Stale

It's been a little over 2 weeks since my last blog. I started one the other day, but it was crap, so I deleted it and didn't try again. A lot has been going on in my life and I know you guys don't want to spend a life time finding out about what happened in two weeks, so I'll be very brief. I'll elaborate on any point you request additional info.

1. The books have arrived! They are all wrapped in brown paper and are sitting on the floor of our living room. I have to check with the accountant to see if we have enough money for postage before they are sent out. CHECK THIS OUT. I hand-delivered a copy to Double O. That's right. I saw him, and spoke to him. First of all he wanted to pass a message along to you guys. He said, "Thanks for calling," and "Sorry I didn't call you back, I didn't know what to say." He appologized to me for blaming everything on ZZ and I. He appologized for everything, actually, and I guess that's what I really wanted. I didn't stay too long, we talked for about 20 minutes and then I left. Getting caught up on each other's lives from the last 6 months in just 20 minutes seemed strange. We kept saying very brief things like, "So, the bumper's finally gone." "Do you still have it somewhere?" "No, I threw that bastard in the dumpster."

2. ZZ and I went to game 2 of the AlAskA Aces hockey tournement between them and the Fresno Falcons. The Aces, incidentally, knocked Vegas out of the championship hunt a few weeks ago.

3. ZZ bought a shot gun.

4. Because there were two shootings at our apartment in one night. The cops came, but didn't do anything (AT ALL) (Including file a police report) when the downstairs neighbors didn't answer the cop's knocks at the door.

5. We are looking for apartments again. We are broke for now, but hope to have money to move out soon. We desperately need to get out of here. It's actually become kinda scarey. Money's just really really tight.

6. However! The car, the Diskohaus, The Pepsi Can, The Collision Resistance Impaired, the Saturn... is FINALLY MINE! I don't have the title in my name yet, but the mofo is finally paid off. I used to think the "Don't Laugh, It's Paid For" bumper stickers were stupid, but I'm seriously thinking about getting one now.

7. I have been working out a lot lately. I can finally run the 1.5 mile without stopping again. It only took about 10 runs and a month to do it! I haven't been out on the bike much lately. I rode to work and I've piddled around downtown a bit, but nothing serious. Now that the temps are in the 60's and we're in the 2nd half of May (the best time of the year) I'm gonna rock and roll the Gary Fischer a lot more.

8. I'm 530 hand-written pages into Highway 9. I'm 37% finished. My self-inflicted deadline of July 26th, 2006, may have to be extened to July 26th, 2007. I want it published (with iUniverse again) by March 2008. That will be 10 years after the events in the book took place. I'm sentimental like that.

9. ZZ and I were going to go to Dairy Queen today, but I think we're just gonna end up cleaning the house. It needs it, and how!

That's about it for now. I'm sure I've left something out. I'll blog again when something grows out of place.

Peace and Love,
Mungo

Still here..

Have not blogged in a while so here is a recap. The visit with my dad and step-mom went great. They want to move out here now.

My birfday was uneventful. it was my 28th on the 28th. And Mungo, if you got that off of myspace, it also says what age I am.

Work sucks and only 10 years and 3.5 months til retirement.

Mungo, also thank you in advance for the book. I am looking forward to it.

How is ZZ? did she ever say anything about when she was here? Something to the effect of "That dude is never staying at our place" or something like that.

Pece out, and I stil need to read the back-blogs.

Star Spangled Banner

Back, real quick, to Mike's post about Bush saying he thinks the Star Spangled Banner ought to be sung in the English language. I think he loses out on his "Good President" rating on that one, and here's why: Back in 2000, he sang the Star Spangled Banner in Spanish. There is video documented proof of this.
