Sunny Days

This month, the month of August, is forecasted to have exactly 3 sunny days. I'll be Vegas has had more cloudy days! (Maybe!) Today is one of the sunny days, tomorrow will be the other one. Nothing in the 10 forecast but rain after that.

Caitlin is coming to AlAskA on Wednesday. That will be awesome. Unfortunately, she'll miss all the sun. Kathi left the house today. She'll be boarding a plane this evening. ZZ and I will have our home to ourselves for exactly 24 hours. She's not home now though, she's comforting her cousin, Roxann, who has had a bad day.

Sorry about not blogging. Life is dull, and super busy at the same time. This weekend, Kathi, Robbie (my new step-brother-in-law), and I walked the Planet Walk. Downtown Anchorage to Kincaid Park: 11 miles. Easy for Robbie and I, (Robbie's 15) but not so easy on Kathi. We worked all summer for that moment though, and she did it. We we started, a quarter mile flat sidewalk pooped her out. If for nothing else, I'm proud of her for that.

Sold!

Well, out of nowhere our realtor in Richfield, UT emailed us letting us know that someone is interested in our house.

Our UT house was not for sale but we told our realtor that if she had someone looking for that kind of house to show it. She showed it and they loved it. We got an offer.....

SOLD!!!!!! Sad and cool at the same time. We LOVE that house but at the same time it will save us almost $1000 a month. They are moving in 6 Sept. That means Labor Day is our last day riding in Richfield. :( The cash we are making off of it will pay some big bills off.

WOO HOO!!!!!

Blogging Monkey

To find a blogging monkey go HERE

Working a whole lot in my world. Tuesday I put in 15 hours at work. Wednesday I put in 13. Today I was lazy and left after 8. Needless to say I have not felt like doing shit after work.

On a different note... I am scheduled to go "somewhere" at "sometime" to be followed by Korea then Tyndall @ the 81 Range Squadron.

I am ready for leave. It starts next Thursday.

I really have nothing else to say right now.

SMF

Just got done checking out SMF that Mungo put out. Cool stuff. I can't say that I read every single line but I did spend quite a bit of time checking out different parts.

The Riot:
I checked out the link that you put at the bottom of SMF. The link was to the myspace page of a band called The Riot. I must honestly say that I think they suck the big bo bo. I listened to the songs that they had posted (I am currently listening to one now). The lead singer sounds dead...no range or emotion in her voice. Maybe it is just the way the songs are mixed. I like the music in the song, Seascape but her voice jacks it all up.

Mungo has turned me on to some good music as well. The Postal Service and Death Cab For Cutie are a couple.

Where are the blogging monkeys at anyway!!!!!!

Slow Days Before the Baby Comes

There isn't a whole lot going on here. No holes in radiators (although the Saturn is leaking oil from somewhere). I got hired, finally, into a full time position at the ACS. I just have to wait for the Personellists to pull their heads out of their You-Know-What's to cut my orders. Until I have my "AGR" orders, I'm stuck working for base-pay only, no bennies, no allowances. It sucks.

ZZ is doing well. She's going nuts having her mother living with us, so to get out of the house, she's started taking some hours at Village Inn just make a few extra bucks and to get out of the house. Her back gets sore sometimes, and her ankles are swollen, but she's doing very well over all.

Caitlin is going to come visit at the end of the month. She'll miss meeting ZZ's mother by two days, but there's no great loss there. My mom and dad are coming in the first week of October. ZZ's grandmother will be here around Thanksgiving, and then next spring, when my sister Meghan finishes all stages of Airborne Lingistics training, she'll come up and visit too.

ZZ's mother, Kathi, and I have been walking a lot. We went on a cool hike the other day at Winner Creek north of Girdwood.

It has been partly sunny here in AlAskA ONE day this month. We've had rain 14 of the last 15 days and the 7-day forecast has 80% chance of rain each day.

Peace and Love,
Mungo

Rocks, Fans, Radiators

Can you see where this is going? We were in Utah doing some great riding this weekend and things were awesome. That is, right up to the point that my bike started flashing the over heating warning.

I looked at the coolant and it was all gone. Turns out that a little pebble about the size of a large pea got kicked up BEHIND the radiator and lodged itself between the fan and the radiator. The fan must have been spinning at the time because it managed to put a 1 inch gash in the radiator which then allowed the coolant to leak out. Well, that turned into an all out dash with Eddie on two other bikes back to the truck while Beck, Ashlee, and the Egglets waited. 1/4 of the way back to the truck I realized that the keys were still on my broken steed. Back we go and get the keys.

THEN it was an all out dash to get to the truck (20 miles away) and drive it back to where everyone was waiting. Luckily we were able to tow the broken one to a trail head near the highway. Eddie and I then drive the truck back and load everyone up. Eddie and I were able to make the round trip in 1 hr and 45 min (that is good considering the trails we were on).

The bike is now at the shop and I am NOT looking forward to the bill for a new radiator. Man, that is going to suck. My guess is $350-$400. I will let you know what it turns out to be.

Over all though, it was a great weekend.

Two Three Year Olds

Double O and I took our three year old friend, Thor, out on a one mile bike ride last night. Thor screamed things like, "I'm going so fast!" and "I'm having so much fun!" and "I like spending time with you two because you're really really fun!" I was affraid that passersby on the trail would think that Double O and I were a gay couple on a kind of sharred custody afternoon with our illegitimate child.

Later, Double O and I went on our own bike ride. Sullivan Arena to Kincaid Park, 22 miles.

Earlier, I took ZZ's mother out on a walk. I've been taking her for lots of walks. My goal is that by the time she leaves AlAskA at the end of August, she'll be able to complete the entire Planet Walk. or here for pictures. She complains more about the outings than Thor complains about training wheel bog-downs in gravel, sand, or grassy hills.

They (ZZ's mother Kathy, and Thor) were both outside together. A cat came out of a bush, and at the exact same time, they both crouched down and said, "Kitty kitty kitty kitty, AH! Ouhhh! How cool! Kitty kitty kitty!" She has a lot in common with the three year old. I am so very much enjoying her stay with us.

Peace and Love,
Mungo
