My son is here and he is doing great! He was born September 1st. 8 pounds, 9 ounces. 19.5 inches long. ZZ only had to push 12 times before Caleb was born. No pain medicine at all! She was amazing and she deserves to be proud of herself for the rest of her life.
Caleb had only one problem. After he was born, his 'bili' count sky rocketed and he needed to return to the Children's Hospital and spend 24 hours under the ultra violet lights. He's back home with us now and we're pleased as punch to have him in our home.
He sleeps all the time. He sleeps straight through the night already and he's only 4 days old! ZZ and I have been extremely lucky to have had 6 to 8 hours of sleep each night. It worried us at first and we wondered, like ST said, if we should be waking him up to feed him every 2-3 hours, but all of the doctors we spoke to said to let him sleep and to take advantage of the peace. The more relaxed ZZ stays, the better her milk will be produced.
Anyway, he's eating a lot, pooping a lot, crying a little, sleeping a lot, and kicking his feet like pistons.
Sitting here at my computer, my baby boy a room away being fed by my ZZ, I can still smell his baby skin smell on my hands.
I've been a father for exactly 4 days, 6 hours, and 19 minutes. I feel like a new man. A real man. I know you guys know what I'm talking about too, it's the most amazing feeling and there's no way a blog entry could EVER capture how I feel.
I love my son, and nothing in the world is more amazing than his new face. AH! Fresh life.
Peace and Love,
